Terms of Use
Please read these Terms of Use (hereinafter the “Terms of Use”) carefully before accessing or using this portal (hereinafter referred to as “ZIO Protect”), including any information, materials, features, functions, or subpages thereof.
By accessing or using ZIO Protect you acknowledge that You have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use.
These Terms of Use form a binding agreement effective as of the date and time they are accepted; BY and BETWEEN
ZURICH INTERNATIONAL LIFE LIMITED, Isle of Man Business Park, Douglas, Isle of Man IM2 2QZ, registered in the Isle of Man number 020126C, and which also operates through the following branch offices:
- Zurich International Life Limited, UAE Branch, which is registered (Registration No. 63) under UAE Federal Law Number 6 of 2007, and its activities in the UAE governed by such law. Registered offices at Unit 601, Building 6, Emaar Square, Dubai. (PO Box 50389 Dubai)

(Hereinafter referred to as the “Company”, “We” or “Us” or "Our")
AND
The USER (hereinafter referred to as the “User” or “You” or "Your")
(Hereinafter the Company and the User jointly referred to as the “Parties” and each individually as a “Party”).
It is agreed as follows:
1.1. Definitions. In the Terms of Use, the following definitions apply:
Force Majeure Event: Any compelling, unforeseeable, and external event beyond the reasonable control of either Party, including without limitation natural disasters, war, government action, labour disruptions, utility failures, or public health emergencies.
Information: Data relating to the provision of insurance services, and/or a Policy, including but not limited to product information, Policy details, payment status, claims, and communications.
Law: All applicable laws, regulations, and rules in force for the Company and its respective branches, including those related to electronic data transmission.
Password: The confidential authentication credential chosen by You to access ZIO Protect.
Policy: An insurance contract between the Company and a policyholder.
Random One-Time Passcode: A code sent to You via two-factor authentication (email) for secure login.
Services: The services made available to the User through ZIO Protect, including, but not limited to, access to Information and related functionalities.
Software: All computer programs, applications, code, and related materials, including but not limited to the source code, object code, scripts, and updates, provided, used, or accessed in connection with ZIO Protect, whether owned by the Company or its licensors, and any software required to access ZIO Protect and to use the Services.
Super Admin: A User with the ability to register other Users and access roles within ZIO Protect.
User: Any natural person or legal entity accessing or using ZIO Protect, including but not limited to, corporate customers, insurance intermediaries, brokers, or Employee Benefit Consultants (EBCs).
User Account: Your personal digital space for accessing Information and Policy-related operations.
Username: The unique identifier used with Your Password for accessing ZIO Protect.
ZIO Protect: the internet-based Service website: www.zioprotect.zurich.com.
1.2. Interpretations
- Words denoting the singular include the plural and vice versa;
- Gender references include all genders and neutral; and
- Headings are for convenience and do not affect interpretation of these Terms of Use.
2.1. The Terms of Use govern the contractual relationship between the Company and the User and determine in detail the provisions governing access and use relating to ZIO Protect and the Services.
2.2. The Company provides Users with free, password-protected, personalised access to Services via ZIO Protect. Access to and availability of the Services depend on User role and relevant Policies. The Services made available to the User depend on the nature of the User and/or the Policies (and relevant Information) to which the User is entitled access.
2.3. Subject to User’s prior acceptance of the Terms of Use, the Services shall be made available to the User in a secure manner through a respective User Account.
2.4. Insurance intermediaries will be allocated Super Admin(s) accounts by the Company. The Super Admin is responsible for creating new Users, assigning roles to Users, and restricting the Policies other Users can view. The Super Admin has full ZIO Protect access to all Policies associated with their organization. The Super Admin can assign the following access roles:
a) broker role - A broker can view Policies allocated to them by the Super Admin; and/or
b) broker team leader role - A broker team leader is entitled to review Policies assigned to them and the team they supervise as set by the Super Admin.
3.1. Registration & Activation
Users must be registered by the Company or their Super Admin and accept these Terms of Use. Activation is completed via a confidential link sent to the User’s professional email address.
3.2. Registration process. Registration requires the User to provide a secure, professional email address. The Company will use this email address for User Account activation, Password resets, and important account communications. The Password, chosen by You, together with your Username, identifies You for access.
a) After entering the correct Username and Password, the User will be sent a Random One-Time Passcode for completion of login. The Random One-Time Passcode will be sent to the email address provided and linked to the User Account. This process will be required for each login to ZIO Protect. We may establish from time-to-time other security procedures, upon Our absolute discretion.
3.2 Security of the User Account
a) Users must keep Passwords and other security credentials confidential. A mandatory change of Password will be required every 90 (Ninety) days to optimise the security of ZIO Protect.
b) Super Admins are responsible for managing access within their organizations, including timely removal of former employees. Failure to do so would result in the Super Admin and/or the insurance intermediary being held responsible for any loss, theft or abuse of Information (including personal data) relating to that access.
c) Recertification of all User roles by Super Admins is required every 360 (Three Hundred Sixty) days; failure to recertify will result in automatic suspension of the Super Admin’s User Account and associated User Accounts until resolved.
d) User Accounts may be locked either after five unsuccessful login attempts in one hour, or after 90 (Ninety) days of inactivity, or if the User Account is not activated within 24 (Twenty-Four) hours of registration. Reactivation requires security verification.
e) Users must immediately inform the Company of any suspected security breaches. Users are prohibited from accessing or viewing Information to which they know they have been prohibited, restricted or limited from viewing.
f) If Your Username and/or Password are lost, stolen or compromised, You must report this to Us as soon as reasonably practicable. You must immediately make us aware of any loss, theft, abuse or consequences of such, and We will acknowledge communication within a reasonable time. For the avoidance of doubt, You shall be solely responsible for any access which results in loss, theft, or data breach.
g) We will not be responsible for any Information incorrectly disclosed or any matter acted on, which is accessed via ZIO Protect unless You have previously advised Us of a breach or suspected breach of security and We have acknowledged Your communication. We will acknowledge Your communication within a reasonable time.
h) You will be responsible for testing all downloaded data for viruses or other disenabling or damaging software. We will not have any liability for any loss of or damage relating to the use of ZIO Protect, including, but not limited, to data or any software arising from the downloading or use of data from ZIO Protect.
These Terms of Use and the Services are subject to amendments and changes at any time at the Company’s sole discretion. The Company will notify You of any material changes to these Terms of Use, with such updates taking effect 30 (Thirty) days after notification. Please review these Terms of Use periodically, as the Company reserves the right to make non-material changes from time to time without specific notification. In all cases, Your continued use of ZIO Protect and the Service constitutes acceptance of any updates.
5.1. The Company may make Information available to You on ZIO Protect. You may, where the functionality exists, use ZIO Protect to supply Information to Us, or to ask Us to make changes to Information or to Your applicable Policies or User Account subject to the Terms of Use. No change will be considered effective unless valid and accurate instructions have been received by Us and are accepted.
5.2 Information Security
a) When You access Information via ZIO Protect, You do so at your own risk. The Company implements technical and organizational measures to protect Your Information, including:
- Maintaining servers in secure locations, accessible only by authorized personnel or third parties with proper access rights.
- Using firewalls to monitor communications and block unauthorized traffic.
- Ensuring the secure and confidential handling of Information at all stages - access, disclosure, and storage.

5.3 Your use of the ZIO Protect
a) You acknowledge that the Information accessible via ZIO Protect may not always be available. ZIO Protect must not be used for any record keeping purposes. Any information downloaded or received from ZIO Protect becomes Your responsibility, including but not limited to the secure handling, retention and lawful processing of any Information received from ZIO Protect.
b) You agree to access and use the Services in compliance with the Law and any other laws and regulations of any other jurisdiction that may apply.
c) You acknowledge responsibility for ensuring that the Services are used in accordance with these Terms of Use.
d) We are entitled to assume that any instruction or request given via ZIO Protect when using Your Username, Password comes from You.
e) We reserve the right to monitor all use of ZIO Protect for auditing and debugging purposes.
f) You must use compatible software to access ZIO Protect; costs for compatibility are Your responsibility.
g) Access must always be through the ZIO Protect homepage. You must not link, frame, or transmit offensive/obscene content to ZIO Protect. You must not allow any pages of ZIO Protect to be framed by pages from Your own- or third-party websites.
h) When using ZIO Protect You must not input or otherwise transmit information that might reasonably be regarded as offensive or obscene or do anything which would amount to a criminal offence or create a civil liability for Us. Where You access Information about any natural or legal person You warrant that You will only do so when acting on lawful authority.
i) You must not misuse ZIO Protect by knowingly introducing viruses, trojans, worms, logic bombs or other material that is malicious or technologically harmful, or otherwise harmfully interacting with ZIO Protect or any part of it. You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to ZIO Protect, the server on which ZIO Protect is stored or any server, computer or database connected to ZIO Protect or any other equipment or network connected with ZIO Protect. You must not interfere with, damage or disrupt any software used in the provision of ZIO Protect and the Services or any equipment or network or software owned or used by any third party on which ZIO Protect relies in any way. You must not attack ZIO Protect via a denial-of-service attack or a distributed denial-of-service attack. We will report any such breach to the relevant law enforcement authorities, and We will co-operate with those authorities by disclosing Your identity to them. In the event of such a breach, Your right to use ZIO Protect will cease immediately without any notice.
5.3 ZIO Protect Availability
a) ZIO Protect may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance.
b) Notwithstanding any other terms within this Terms of Use, We reserve the right in Our sole discretion to modify, suspend, or discontinue, temporarily or permanently withdraw the Services or ZIO Protect (or any features or parts thereof) at any time.
c) We reserve the right to withdraw the right to access Information via ZIO Protect at any time without notice and without giving reason.
d) If We reasonably suspect that these Terms of Use have been breached, or if applicable Law or regulations within a relevant jurisdiction require or may require Us to take action, We may, at our discretion, either:
- Suspend or terminate the Services without notice; or
- Block access to any part of the Services provided without notice.
e) The Company may not be held liable for any damage incurred by the User in the event of an interruption to the Services or a blocking of access to ZIO Protect.
6.1. Our rights
All author's rights, trademarks and other intellectual property rights on ZIO Protect and its content (in particular the design of the website, texts, graphics and all software and source codes in connection with the website, including the Software) are the Company’s exclusive property or that of its licensors. You may not copy, reproduce, republish, or transfer to any other medium or use or adapt or modify, rent, lease, lend or purport to assign the Software or any part of it downloaded from ZIO Protect, other than in a way contemplated by these Terms of Use, without Our express prior written approval. You may not use, copy, modify, distribute, or reverse engineer any intellectual property licensed to or owned by Us contained in or accessed through ZIO Protect, except as expressly permitted by these Terms of Use.
6.2. User license
In respect of the contents of ZIO Protect made available by Us, the User shall be granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable right to use such contents to the extent required to display and use the Service in a web browser.
You will obtain any licences required in respect of any intellectual property rights existing in third party websites linked via hyperlink to ZIO Protect directly from the relevant third party. We will not be responsible or liable in respect of such intellectual property rights as a result of You having accessed that third party website via ZIO Protect.
6.3. Use of Information
Regardless of any other provision in this clause 6, We give You permission to download or retrieve Information from ZIO Protect solely for the purpose of receiving the Services, and provided that You lawfully access the Information concerned and such Information will be used only for a lawful purpose as allowed under the applicable Law of the relevant jurisdiction. Where you are an insurance intermediary, You may use the Information only as agreed in any authorisations from Your customers, and/or distribution agreement entered into by You with Us, where applicable.
You may not copy, reproduce, republish or disclose all or any of the Information received from Us by whatever method without Our express prior written approval.
6.4. General
All other intellectual property rights are expressly reserved.
The Company complies with all applicable data protection Laws and regulations. For full details of how we handle personal data, please refer to the ZIO Protect Privacy Notice.
8.1. Subject to the terms of this clause 8, the Company shall not be liable with regard to any damage which may possibly result from, or in relation with, the use of the Services by the User, and shall in particular assume no guarantee regarding the integrity (i.e. inalterability) of any data dispatched by way of electronic means or printed by the User and shall not be liable for the use, retention or security of the Information once removed from ZIO Protect.
8.2. The Company will not assume any liability regarding any direct, indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages caused by the User or any third party whatsoever when using the Services and ZIO Protect.
8.3. If it should happen that applying the provisions of the Policy and/or terms of business, distributions agreements, authorisations or similar, would result in an outcome differing from the data so available by way of electronic means, the provisions resulting from appropriate application of the terms of the Policy and/or terms of business, authorisations, distributions agreements, or similar shall in any case prevail.
8.4. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary herein, any exclusion of liability of the Company herein shall only be made to the extent permitted by Law and in particular shall not apply in respect of any damage directly caused by the proved gross negligence or wilful default by the Company or any of its directors, managers or employees in the exercise of their respective functions within the Company and attributable to it.
8.5. The Company is not liable for failure or delay in performance due to Force Majeure Events, except when caused by its proved gross negligence or wilful default.
9.1. Term
The Terms of Use shall remain in force and full effect for an unlimited term.
9.2 Termination
We reserve the right to terminate the Terms of Use and the provision of Services without cause, by withdrawing access to ZIO Protect.
The Terms of Use will automatically terminate if Your insurance intermediary terms of business with Us are terminated and are not immediately replaced with new terms of business issued by or agreed upon with Us.
The Terms of Use may be terminated by You immediately if a Force Majeure Event subsists for a period of more than thirty (30) calendar days and suitable alternative arrangements have not been agreed between the Parties.
On termination of these Terms of Use, all and any licences or rights granted under these Terms of Use to You will be immediately withdrawn.
If any provision of these Terms of Use is declared by any judicial or other competent authority to be void or otherwise unenforceable, that provision shall be severed from these Terms of Use and the remaining provisions of these Terms of Use shall remain in full force and effect. These Terms of Use shall, however, thereafter, be interpreted by the Parties in such reasonable manner so as to achieve, without illegality, the intention of the Parties with respect to that severed provision.
Where use of ZIO Protect relates to a Policy issued by the Company (excluding branches), these Terms of Use are governed by the laws of the Isle of Man, and any disputes shall be subject to the courts of the Isle of Man.
Disputes arising from access to or use of the ZIO Protect, or from any Policy issued in connection with such access, shall be governed by the Laws of the jurisdiction of the relevant branch through which the ZIO Protect is accessed or the Policy is issued. The courts of that jurisdiction shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any such dispute.
